I have been taking private one to one Spanish classes from Marga for over four years as an intermediate level student. I started classed as B1 on the international scale, based on sketchy memories of school Spanish, and Marga’s tuition has completely transformed my ability to speak and comprehend the language. I am now B2 / C1 and C1 level is achievable – if I put the work into it.

Marga believes knowledge of Hispano -american culture is essential to students of Spanish tp provide context – for example spanish proverbs used in everyday speech require a cultural explanation for the foreigner to appreciate their significance. In my case, I have been introduced to a host of writers of Spanish and Latin American literature, significant artists from the worlds of music, dance and painting, how festive periods such as Christmas are celebrated in Spain…the list goes on… In essence, Marga provides the student a portal to enter the Hispanic world and explore; each individual student will find their own path and experience their own journey. My only advice would be – you only get out what you are prepared to put in!

In terms of lesson structure, Marga invites students to briefly relate personal highlights of the past week. Marga will then dissect the student’s story pointing out errors of grammar / vocabulary / pronunciation before moving on to the lesson she has previously prepared. The lesson will usually be based on a chapter from a textbook, but should she feel the topic is better covered elsewhere Marga will use other resources – there are myriad online. There is plenty of variety YouTube videos, interactive quizzes etc etc. Finally, I would say Marga is the queen of improvisation! If something happens during a lesson that catches the imagination of the student, Marga will not hesitate to put the prepared script aside and respond to the student’s reaction.

Marga, as native speaker teacher of Spanish brings a unique set of experiences of working / travelling in Latin America, is in my view an extraordinarily gifted teacher. Anybody contemplating learning spanish at whatever level, for whatever reason will not find a better teacher – of that I am sure.

I was very nervous and apprehensive when I first started to learn Spanish with Marga, however very quickly after only a few lessons I found Marga very supportive and above all patient and very understanding.

She was very happy to repeat anything and I felt comfortable telling her when I was struggling more with certain areas of the language.

Margas lessons are fun, playing games to reinforce the learning which really helps the recall and varying the lessons to encourage you, with talking and listening exercises in the classroom, which for me helped my self confidence especially when travelling in Spain.

I could go on but I would encourage you to try for yourself. You will be surprised.

My partner and I have been learning Spanish with Marga for over a year. Marga’s classes are well-structured and normally consist of a mixture of reading, writing and listening in pairs or on your own. The pace of learning is good so that you really feel like you are progressing and Marga makes sure that no-one in the class gets left behind. Lots of feedback and individual attention and lovely small classes. Marga is a great teacher who is passionate about her work, puts a lot of effort into her classes and really cares about your individual learning journey. She has a good sense of humour too which means her classes are enjoyable and fun with lots of games involved! I would highly recommend Marga as a Spanish teacher if you want to learn Spanish with the emphasis on talking, in a fun and supportive environment.

I have been studying Spanish with Marga for a number of years now, and will continue to do so as she is so great. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, Marga always manages to make the classes interesting, progresive and entertaining.

One of the best things about Marga is that you never feel intimidated in her lessons, which is so often the case in an adult language class, due to her amazing empathy, positivity and limitless patience.

Regardless of your entry level, I really recommend Marga to teach and guide you through the wonderful language of Spanish!

A few years back, Marga tutored my daughter in Spanish and we were delighted when she subsequently gained an ‘A’ level at ‘A’ grade!

Given this outcome, it was a natural choice to engage her tuition services in ‘A’ level Spanish for my son. He has now recently completed his studies and we are hopeful for his examination success.

We have always found her to be enthusiastic, efficient in her teaching, and knowledgeable of examination processes and techniques. Always pleasant and engaging, she has been able to inspire, nurture, and bond with our children in Spanish language development through one-to-one sessions (currently online) and by setting assignments, which explore aspects of Spanish culture.

Both of my children were sad when their Spanish coaching with her came to an end after their examinations!
